234

Occupational safety and health service

(1) The service for labor protection and hygiene is established in the units that have 50 and more employees.


(2) If the work environment in the unit imposes a dynamic control of harmful factors, an industrial toxicology laboratory shall be established in the unit, subordinated to the service for occupational protection and hygiene.


(3) The service for labor protection and hygiene provides consultations and assistance to the employer in the elaboration and implementation of measures for the prevention of work accidents and occupational diseases.


(4) The service for labor protection and hygiene aims at:


a) prevention, elimination or reduction of the action of risk factors that may appear in the work process;


b) improving working methods and improving the working environment, by adapting them to the psychophysical abilities of employees;


c) contributing to the training of employees in matters of labor protection and hygiene.


(5) The personnel of the service for labor protection and hygiene is formed by specialists with appropriate training in the field.


(6) The units that have less than 50 employees and that do not have the service for occupational safety and hygiene and the industrial toxicology laboratory may use, in the established way, the services of the specialized units.
